Orphan Block
An orphan block, often called a stale block, is a block that is not accepted by a blockchain network due to the occurrence of simultaneous mining of two blocks. This simultaneous mining leads to a temporary fork, known as a soft fork. However, orphan blocks typically create a sequence of four consecutive blocks that exist outside the primary network. While these orphaned blocks are valid and verified, they remain isolated from the original blockchain and hold no significance after being rejected.
