National Stock Exchange (NSE)

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) holds the distinction of being the largest and most reputable stock exchange in India. Since its launch in 1992, the NSE has pioneered automated electronic trading and introduced various investment products on a nationwide scale. Among its prominent offerings is the NIFTY 50 stock index, introduced in 1996. The NIFTY 50 index allows investors to gain exposure to the 50 largest stocks that significantly contribute to India’s economy. As of May 2021, the NSE boasted a market capitalization of approximately $3.1 trillion USD.
