Ignite (formerly Tendermint)
Ignite, formerly recognized as Tendermint, is a company founded by computer scientist Jae Kwon in 2014. Tendermint, now known as Ignite, is credited with creating the Tendermint Core Byzantine Fault Tolerant (BFT) consensus mechanism, which operates on a Proof-of-Stake (PoS) basis. Initially developed for the Cosmos Hub blockchain, this mechanism serves as the foundation for the Cosmos blockchain ecosystem. Through the introduction of the Application Blockchain Interface (ABCI), Tendermint enabled the replication of decentralized applications (dApps) in multiple programming languages, acting as a bridge to the Cosmos ecosystem. Furthermore, they developed the Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) protocol, which enhances the security of data transfers between different blockchains.
