Double-Spending Problem
The double-spending problem refers to a significant risk associated with digital currencies, where the same funds can be copied and spent multiple times. With fiat currency, physical cash is transferred from the spender to the receiver and cannot be spent again. However, in the realm of digital currency, blockchain systems are designed to prevent the same digital coin or token, such as Bitcoin (BTC), from being sent to multiple addresses. Various mechanisms are in place within cryptocurrencies to verify the authenticity of all transactions, mitigating the risk of double-spending.
