Domain Name Service (DNS)
A DNS is a decentralized, hierarchical naming system used for network infrastructure, computers, and similar resources connected to the internet or private networks. DNS is primarily utilized to convert user-friendly domain names into the numerical IP addresses necessary for identifying and locating specific devices and computer services within network protocols. Since 1985, DNS has played a critical role in establishing a globally distributed directory for domain names, thereby contributing significantly to the infrastructure of the internet.
