Traceability pertains to the level of transparency that allows a third party to track and access details about a transaction, such as the involved parties’ identities and the transaction amount. Various blockchain-based projects employ distinct approaches to traceability. For instance, non-fungible tokens (NFTs) adhering to the ERC-721 standard prioritize maximal traceability, enabling precise tracking of the asset’s ownership history. Conversely, projects like Monero are designed to prioritize privacy and anonymity, employing techniques to obscure user accounts and transaction information from external observers, aiming to remain entirely untraceable.
