Text-Based User Interface (TUI)

A Text-Based User Interface (TUI) is a computing user interface (UI) that utilizes text characters, symbols, and colors within a character-based terminal. TUIs were developed as an early form of human-computer interaction before graphical user interfaces (GUIs) became widely adopted. Like GUIs, TUI interfaces occupy the entire screen and support various input types, including mouse and keyboard interactions. Disk Operating System (DOS), first released in 1981, was one of the early text-based UIs that emerged in the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s.
