Tendermint Core Byzantine Fault Tolerance (BFT)
Tendermint Core Byzantine Fault Tolerance (BFT) represents a consensus mechanism developed by the Ignite team (previously known as Tendermint). Its primary objective is to excel in scalability, security, and decentralization when compared to other algorithms like Practical Byzantine Fault Tolerance (pBFT), State Machine Replication (SMR), and Depth Limit Search (DLS). Thanks to its robust design, Tendermint Core can seamlessly support state machines, achieve rapid finality rates, and effectively handle up to a third of its nodes failing without significantly impacting network performance. Notably, this powerful consensus engine has been put to use in the creation of prominent blockchains, including the Crypto.com blockchain and the Binance decentralized exchange (DEX) protocol.
