The SPDR S&P 500 Trust ETF, commonly known as the SPY ETF, is one of the most well-known electronically traded funds (ETFs) globally, traded on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). The SPY ETF tracks the American Standard and Poor’s 500 Index (S&P 500), which comprises 500 prominent companies listed on the U.S. stock market.
