Snowball Consensus Mechanism (Avalanche)
Snowball is the exclusive Proof-of-Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism developed by Avalanche. Within a subnet, Snowball requires validator nodes to continually query each other to determine the validity of network transactions until they achieve consensus. Snowball represents the most advanced component of Avalanche’s consensus mechanism, which combines Avalanche’s Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG) architecture, the Slush consensus system (single-decree consensus), and Snowflake (Byzantine Fault Tolerance-based) mechanisms.
