Smart Token
Smart tokens are cryptocurrencies programmable with a vast array of parameters, serving various purposes based on their specific programming. Some smart tokens are designed to mitigate liquidity risk, enhance security measures, or influence consumer behavior. For example, a smart token can be programmed to dynamically adjust its value based on a Constant Reserve Rate (CRR) pegged to a different base currency, work exclusively with specific vendors or for certain purchases, or have an expiration date. The Bancor Network’s Bancor token, introduced in June 2017, is widely acknowledged as the world’s first smart token.
