Protocol Layer

Protocol Layer encompasses the underlying blockchain consensus mechanism, nodes, and the foundation of the entire blockchain system. It may also include external Layer-2 blockchain systems like sidechains and virtual machines. Generally, the protocol layer refers to the underlying architecture of all Layer-1 blockchain networks, including node identification, error reporting, network synchronization, transaction processing, and state changes.
