Proof of Capacity (PoC)
Proof of Capacity (PoC) is a consensus mechanism that determines a miner’s mining rights and transaction validation ability based on the available hard drive space. Before mining begins, the PoC mechanism stores a list of potential cryptographic mining solutions in the hard drive of the mining device. Larger hard drives can store more potential solution values. PoC addresses the energy inefficiencies and computational requirements of traditional Proof-of-Work (PoW) mechanisms, as well as the hoarding tendencies observed in certain Proof-of-Stake (PoS) configurations.
