Proof of Authority (PoA)
Proof of Authority (PoA) serves as a consensus mechanism adopted by various blockchain networks. Developed by Gavin Wood, co-founder of Ethereum and former Chief Technology Officer (CTO), PoA distinguishes itself by prioritizing the identity and reputation of participants instead of cryptographic assets or computational power. In PoA, a select group of authorized nodes assumes the responsibility of validating transactions, leading to enhanced scalability and swift transaction processing. While PoA has faced criticism for its centralized nature, it offers notable benefits in terms of efficiency and speed.
