Private Key

In public-key cryptography (asymmetric cryptography), a private key is a specialized alphanumeric key that must remain known only to its owner. Private keys grant access to funds and are associated with a wallet address generated by public keys that can be shared with others. Public and private keys work together in a cryptographic system, using mathematical algorithms to create one-way functions.
