Pattern Day Trading
Pattern day trading (PDT) is a regulatory classification assigned to traders who execute more than four margin trades per day for five consecutive business days. This classification imposes specific limits on trading to mitigate excessive risk and detrimental trading habits. A trader categorized as a pattern day trader may face a ban from an exchange for up to 90 days to comply with regulations set by the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).
