Mt. Gox

Established in 2010 by Jed McCaleb and later operated by Mark Karpeles from Japan, Mt. Gox was a centralized cryptocurrency exchange that suffered a significant hack in 2014, leading to the loss of more than 700,000 bitcoins (BTC). Subsequently, Mt. Gox filed for bankruptcy and liquidation, leaving creditors in anticipation of compensation for their lost funds.
