Mixer (Crypto Mixer)
Cryptocurrency mixers, also known as tumblers, offer custodial mixing services where users can deposit cryptocurrencies to enhance their privacy. While coin mixing does not guarantee complete privacy, it increases the difficulty of tracing transactions. These services are sometimes used to obscure the origins of “dirty coins” obtained through illicit activities. Mixing involves combining coins from different wallets and transferring the “cleaned” coins to another wallet. Although cryptocurrency mixers have non-criminal use cases, some countries have imposed restrictions on their usage. Service providers typically charge a fee of 1-3% for these services. However, custodial mixing services are becoming less popular with the emergence of newer non-custodial alternatives.
