Mainchain

The term “mainchain” refers to the primary layer-1 network of a blockchain protocol, such as Bitcoin or Ethereum. It serves as the core blockchain within a specific ecosystem, with other protocols and decentralized applications built on top of it. Prominent decentralized finance (DeFi) projects, for instance, typically run on the mainchain of the Ethereum network.
