Inverse Synthetic Cryptocurrencies

Inverse synthetic cryptocurrencies are synthetic assets available on the Synthetix protocol that exhibit an inverse correlation to the price movements of the underlying cryptocurrency they represent. These inverse synthetic assets are denoted by an ‘i’ prefix, for instance, iBTC. When the price of the corresponding cryptocurrency, like BTC, rises, the value of the inverse synthetic cryptocurrency, iBTC, decreases. Similar types of synthetic crypto products may also be found on other crypto protocols.
