Internet Layer

The internet layer encompasses the key components responsible for transmitting data and enabling internet operations, including the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and the Internet Protocol (IP). Together with the link layer, the internet layer forms the foundation upon which the rest of the internet is built. The internet layer interfaces with routing systems, telecommunications infrastructure (such as electronic circuits and Ethernet), and network centers that host and transmit a significant portion of the data comprising the internet.
