Initial Coin Offering (ICO)
Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs) or token sales are mechanisms enabled by blockchain technology to create and sell tokens or coins as a means of fundraising for new crypto protocols, decentralized applications (dApps), or other digital assets or blockchain products. Instead of offering equity or shares, an ICO typically sells coins/tokens that represent future utility within the associated project. However, ICO-launched coins/tokens may still be considered securities and subject to regulatory frameworks in specific jurisdictions.
