Gross Merchandise Value (GMV)
Gross Merchandise Value (GMV), sometimes referred to as Gross Merchandise Volume, is a prevalent indicator employed in the online retail sector to quantify the overall sales volume (expressed in a specific fiat currency, such as USD or euros) of merchandise within a given marketplace over a specified duration. GMV encompasses all fees and deductions associated with sales, including site revenue derived from fees, which differs from the actual monetary value of the items sold. In ecommerce, GMV is determined by multiplying the average sale price per item by the total count of individual items sold.
