Flag (Technical Formation)
Within the realm of technical analysis, a flag pattern represents a distinct chart formation marked by a short-lived price trend, known as the flag pole, followed by a significant countertrend movement referred to as the flag itself. The flag usually moves in the opposite direction of the prevailing price trend observed in the market. For example, during a bullish market, a bear flag pattern may emerge, whereas in a bearish market, a bull flag pattern could take shape. Flag patterns commonly signal possible trend reversals or breakouts after a period of horizontal price consolidation, often accompanied by specific price action and volume indicators.
