Ethash
Ethash is a specialized Proof-of-Work (PoW) hashing algorithm utilized by the Ethereum blockchain. It represents the latest version of Ethereum’s Dagger-Hashimoto mining algorithm and is known for its increased speed compared to its predecessor. Ethash is designed to be resistant to application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) mining, while remaining GPU mining-friendly and light client-friendly. However, with the planned transition to Ethereum Consensus Layer (formerly Ethereum 2.0) and its Proof-of-Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism, Ethash may no longer be utilized.
