Drawdown
Drawdown refers to a measurement used to assess the decline in financial markets over a specific period. It is quantified as a percentage using the peak-to-trough method. For instance, if a market or stock experiences a drop from an initial value of $100,000 to $60,000 before subsequently recovering beyond the initial level, the drawdown would be 40%. Drawdowns hold significance for traders and fund managers responsible for a significant number of assets in an investment portfolio or fund. It’s important to note that a drawdown does not necessarily imply a loss, but rather indicates the movement of an asset from its peak (highest point) to its trough (lowest point).
