Docking

Docking is the process of integrating two protocols, such as transitioning from Ethereum Execution Layer to Ethereum Consensus Layer (formerly Ethereum 1.0 to Ethereum 2.0), with the aim of enhancing and strengthening the network over time. This complex procedure involves transferring data and information from the older, less technologically advanced protocol to the newer, more advanced version. Docking can take weeks or longer as it requires aligning data types between network infrastructures that may have significant differences.
