Cypherpunk
The cypherpunk movement encompasses individuals (referred to as cypherpunks) and organizations who actively advocate for the widespread adoption of cryptography, blockchain, and other privacy-enhancing technologies to bring about social and political transformation. Originating in the late 1980s through discussions on a mailing list, the movement delved into topics such as cryptography, encryption, privacy, and security, with the aim of empowering society on a broad scale. The cypherpunk community played a significant role as early adopters of Bitcoin during the late 2000s and early 2010s.
