Colored Coins

Introduced in 2013, Colored Coins was a proposal aiming to utilize the Bitcoin blockchain for issuing “colored bitcoins” representing different types of assets, such as currencies and stocks. This early initiative laid the groundwork for the concept of tokens that we see today.
