Block Producer
In the majority of Proof-of-Stake (PoS) blockchains, a block producer is an individual or a group whose hardware is chosen to validate the transactions of a block and initiate the subsequent block. The concept of block producers originated in blockchain ecosystems that utilize Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS), where users elect individuals to act as block producers for validating and adding blocks. Block producers are sometimes also known as “delegates” or “witnesses.”
